Data Privacy Notice

Short, human understandable version

I am personally the service provider and thus the DATA CONTROLLER for any PII data that is handled when using HTSTR.com (see contact details above).

HTSTR.com uses Spotify embeds for its core gameplay. Thus, a connection is established between your browser and Spotifys servers. If you don't want that to happen, please don't play this FREE TO PLAY game. It is technically required to provide the gameplay.

If you contact me through email or the contact form (provided by Google), I will store your PII data (at least your email address; and whatever else YOU choose to share with me) for the purpose of the correspondence between us. Kindly ask me to delete any correspondence if you would like me to do so.

To make this web application look pretty, some themes might use Google Fonts and thus establish a connection to Google server to load the font.

To keep interested users up to date when new Decks are available, etc., I offer a free Newsletter you can optionally and VOLUNTARILY subscribe to. I use the SaaS "Brevo", provided by Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Str. 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany, to manage my Newsletters and Subscribers. If you choose to subscribe to the HTSTR Newsletter, you can also unsubscribe to it at any time by following the "Unsubscribe" Link in the footer of every Newsletter. Due to the nature of this type of implementation, "Brevo" is my SUB-PROCESSOR (covered by a Data Privacy Agreement between me and "Brevo" ). "Brevo" DOES NOT use your personal information (= your email address) for any of their own purposes; the only purpose is that I can send you a Newsletter.

Besides that, it is pretty low-tech PHP and not much else is happening (also no cookies, no login, etc.)

Since I am based in Europe, I must let you know that you have the right to complain to Data Privacy Authority in charge of my local jurisdiction if you feel that HTSTR.com is in any way invading your privacy. Checkout this list if you are interested and want to find out which Authority is in charge of HTSTR.com https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/library/list-personal-data-protection-competent-authorities.

Privacy Policy

(Last updated: March 16, 2026)

1. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on HTSTR.com (GDPR Art. 4(7)) is:
Jake Curtis
Aiglsbacher Straße 5
84048 Mainburg
DE-GERMANY
Email: jake at htstr.com

2. Data Collection and Processing

HTSTR.com is a simple, low-tech web application with no user accounts, logins, sessions, or cookies set by us. We do not collect personal data automatically during normal use (e.g., no IP logging beyond standard server access logs, no analytics tracking by us). The following limited personal data processing occurs:

Spotify Embeds (Core Functionality):
To play music tracks directly in the browser, we embed Spotify players (iframes). This establishes a direct connection from your browser to Spotify's servers. Spotify may collect personal data (e.g., IP address, device information, usage data) and set cookies/trackers. We have no control over or access to this data. For details, see Spotify's Privacy Policy: https://www.spotify.com/legal/privacy-policy/.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in providing the core game functionality. If you do not wish Spotify to process your data, please refrain from using this web application.

Contact / Feedback Form (Google Forms):
If you contact us via the feedback/contact form (powered by Google Forms) or directly by email, we collect the data you voluntarily provide (at minimum: email address; possibly name, message content). This data is processed solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiry/feedback.
Legal basis: Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) or pre-contractual measures/legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(b/f) GDPR).
Retention: We retain correspondence only as long as necessary for the purpose (usually until the matter is resolved). You may request deletion at any time by emailing us.

Google Fonts:
This website uses Google Fonts. Google may collect personal data (e.g., IP address, device info, usage data). We have no access to this data.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
For details and see Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

HTSTR Newsletter:
HTSTR.com offers a Newsletter. The Newsletters and Subscribers are managed by an external SaaS as SUB PROCESSOR, "Brevo". "Brevo" is provided by: Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Str. 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany. Link to their Data Privacy Policy: https://www.brevo.com/de/legal/privacypolicy/
Legal basis: User Consent ("double-opt-in") (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Subscribers can unsubscribe to the Newsletter at any time by simply following the "Unsubscribe" Link in every Newsletter. Or manually by using this form.

3. Your Rights (GDPR)

As a data subject, you have the following rights (subject to legal limitations):
- Right to access (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten", Art. 17 GDPR)
- Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
- Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR) at any time

To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement. A list of EU supervisory authorities is available here: https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/library/list-personal-data-protection-competent-authorities.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect any data we process (e.g., secure email handling, no unnecessary storage). However, absolute security cannot be guaranteed over the internet.

5. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. The date at the top indicates the last revision.
